Migranes and Milkshakes

Last night I had the worst migraine. Who the heck am I kidding, this one was actually better then some of the others I have had. I only dry heaved into the toilet instead of actually throwing up this time. The only difference was this time my right eye was all puffy and swollen. Allergies I think have taken a toll on me. Anyway, I think that's my favorite word, Anyway. So the only thing that helps to settle my stomach when I get a migraine is a milkshake. Yum right, sometimes but last night I couldn't even drink it. My head and eye were pounding and all I wanted to do was sleep and I couldn't even do that. Back to the story, what a waste of me notdrinking that yummy creamy vanillas milkshake. Well not as much of a waste as this! I was shocked and thinking what the heck? I tend to think that a lot lately, what the heck. Seriously though what is McDonald's thinking? No I didn't have any ice cream in my freezer or I would have made my own milkshake. I'm not rich, but I HAD to have one to cure my nauseated stomach.

Yes that's my name carved in the cup, cause it's STYROFOAM! Hello why are they using Styrofoam. At least the plastic cups I could re-uses at the beach for my son to make sand castles and for him to use in the bathtub. What am I supposed to do with this? Do they realize that Styrofoam is so bad for the environment? Come on McDonald's, I thought you had the one up on everyone else with your "economy saving" mini $3 meals, healthier (well healthier for fast food) food options and now offering cheap great tasting coffee as an alternative to the expensive Starbucks. You just took a huge step backwards, as yes, this could make me not want to frequent your establishment.

Maybe making the Styrofoam cups is less evasive on the environment then making paper cups? Is that enough to offset the fact that Styrofoam doesn't degrade in landfills? Or does it now? Maybe I've just been brainwashed about Styrofoam? I don't know I'm still learning about being "Green" and if you have any explanation or reasoning as to why they would do this, or if you just plain agree with me and think it's wrong then speak up.

Disappointed and thinking I might actually call the 800 number on the cup to complain or get an explanation as to why!

OMG It is so funny that you brought this up because I just ate at McDonald's this past weekend for the first time in months, and I noticed the new cups too.

I don't know if these particular styrofoam cups are good or bad for the environment, but I'll tell you one thing I do appreciate... lack of condensation!

I can't tell you how much I hate it when I get a drink that is very cold with ice in it, and my hand gets all wet every time I touch it, and it drips down until there is a sticky puddle in my car's cup holder. Maybe that's a stupid pet peeve, and I certainly don't value the dryness of my hand over the environment, but I've gotta say, it was nice, LOL!

I know exactly what you mean. Like whan you leave your drink the car over night and liquid absorbs into the papercup and when you go to pull it out its practically falling part. I guess there are the pros and cons to everything. Like I always say to each his own, I was just shocked to see this.

That is ridiculous - who uses styrofoam anymore? Audra is most likely right - they did it because of the condensation issue. Now every time I see the word 'styrofoam' I think of Bolt. LOL! I am off to see what this song is that is playing - I like it!

That's weird. They don't do it here yet!
When I first saw your name on the cup I was thinking, "What? They knew who you were and they put your name on it?"
I know. Dork.

Well, I am proud of you for being green, but I had to read the post twice. Wanna know why? Well, I am going to tell you anyway! The second you said McDonalds milkshake, I got a HUGE craving for Wendy's frosty. With fries. MMMMMMMM. And it is NOT in a styrofoam cup! In any case, if you want me to sign a petition or make a call or something let me know ;)

So yea, I use Citronella oil on my temples and literally huff the stuff too. Put the bottle under my nose ans keep inhaling till I can't anymore. It dilates the blood vessels. Since I was given the little gem of knowledge I am better able to handle them.

As per the Styrofoam issue there was a 16 yo out in Europe that for a science fair discovered an enzyme that eats plastic and Styrofoam. I am guessing he won the fair. They are looking at mass producing those enzymes once the initial test are done in the coming years.

Oof, I hope that you are back up on your feet! Migraines sucks. I was getting them soo bad from my birth control and the only thing that helped was to walk around outside with a wet wash cloth over my eyes. Doctors didn't believe me cause walking with a wash cloth is not normally what people with migraines do. I yelled at them at the ER and said please put my head under a jackhammer! It would be a relief! It finally put them into action.

Birth control stopped, migraines stopped. Insane.

Girl hope you are feeling better!

Wow suffering from a migraine and you are worried about the environment, good on you. If I was suffering like that I would drink the shake and think about the cup later.

Hope you feel better.

I just thought you might like this! yesterday I got a package in the mail filled with little styrofoam peanuts and I thought about you hee hee! Then, my son stepped in the box, I noticed he spilled paint in there, too, so I picked him up with the peanuts stuck to his feet, took him to the sink, and the peanuts dissolved in water! How cool is that? I am sure that won't work for soda's but you know, something at least!
