Shop locally at 3 independent locally owned stores in your area this week, preferably 3 whom you would never want to see disappear. In answer to your question about "My Sister's Keeper" (no email addr. to reply to)—I did read it and loved how she wove all the stories together. After reading it I saw the movie and was fascinated to see what they left in and what they changed to make it work as a film. (I'm in a screenwriting class so this interests me.)
We have a lot of local stores especially in the downtown area. Many of hte Mom and pop stores have disappeared sadly.

Okay my three favorite shops that are mom and pop are:
1)Bert & Rockys ( they make home made ice cream and in this heat it is a must!
2)Playdoh's closet ( recycling childrens clothing and stuff)
3)The organic Farmer's markets (kinda speaks for itself)
