Invasion of the.........

Okay, so moving from the city to the burbs I thought would be an easy adjustment for me. Yes the weather would be warmer, people would be seen riding their horses through the Starbucks Drive-thru and maybe we'd have to deal with some mosquitoes, spiders and overly friendly neighbors. "Hi NEIGHBOR!" We have experienced all of the above, except the mosquitoes to which I am surprised. Knock on wood!

What I wasn't ready for, was the invasion. When I say invasion, I mean they are everywhere. You know I could have been warned by my real estate agent, or better yet you sis! Did you not want to scare me away?

Seriously this is what we've been invaded by:

Ants - No one told me that when you move in, they move in. 1st night in the house and we lose almost our whole pantry. How the heck are they on the ceilings, they are like 20ft high.

Cockroaches - Oriental Cockroaches to be exact. Okay these were never in the house, but they were in the front yard. I thought they were big beetle bugs, till I hired a pest control service to get rid of the ants. Apparently these are popular to the area and live in the sewers, so there's nothing much I can do about them being outside the house. GROSS!! If these guys get inside the house, I'm so outta here.

Flying Hard Shell Bug Things - I don't even know what these are. But they just recently showed up. They fly and land on you, I mean attack you. Everyone I have seen has been on someones clothing. They are hard shelled and ugly. How do you get rid of flying bugs? I'm now seeing them fly into the house. Come on! Flying bugs are not covered under my pest control service.

Crows - So we drive into our court the other day and ugly black crows were everywhere. Where's the corn fields, the city next to us, so why are they here. I kid you not at least 4 crows were hanging out on each persons lawn or house for about an hour. Was our block the center stage of the movie "Birds 2?"

Now it's this!

I saw this yesterday in my garage!
WTF is it?
At least this one was dead already.
Wondering if I'll find more?

Anticipating what could possibly be next.

Is that a praying mantis? If it is I've herd that it was a crime to kill them because they are endangered! I don't know how true that is, but its what I've herd for years!

I didn't kill him, I found him dead. I don't know about the endangered part, they are all over my hood. I've never heard that. I don't kill any of the bugs myself, yuck. I just call my pest people and they take care of it for me.

Oh, man, I am not envious of your new insect neighbours. I hope the pest control guy was able to get rid of the ants!

The praying mantis is actually a welcome guest. It eats bad bugs and harmless to humans. When I lived in Dallas we had the huge hard shells bugs that I resorted to smacking with a mallet and then cleaning up (yuck). But it was the only way to get rid of them.

Good luck!
