Look out! ASTRO BOY!

(Actual picture from the big screen in the movies)

Sorry everyone, I'm skipping the Tuesday Football tracker this week. I've had so much going on this weekend that I didn't even watch any football. If so much going on means, sleeping away the entire 2nd half of my Saturday, than yeah It's been crazy busy for me. I needed to catch up on my sleep so that when I started my new job I'd be on POINT!

So instead of spending my Sunday crafting as per usual and watching football, I decided to take The Boy and my Nephew PAPA to the movies. I did happen to bust out SIX halloween trick or treat bags in under ONE hour before we left though. YAY ME! I had planned on us seeing It's Raining Meatballs, however we had a slight change of plans and ended up seeing Astro Boy instead.

Movie theaters are crazy! I mean seriously, I'm not sure I'll be seeing another movie for a long time. $46 is what I spent for 2 kids and myself to attend the movie. The tickets, matinee, were $21 dollars and the food was $25. Seriously $25 for 2 hot dogs, a bag of popcorn and 3 sodas. $6 for a small bag of popcorn. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? It's insane how expensive the snack bar at the movie theater is.

All in all, it was totally worth it, especially since my sister gave me $20. The movie started out kinda rough. Not the actual movie, but our adventure in getting to the movies. We arrived right on time so it was super dark in the theater when we walked in and the previews were all ready playing. I was NOT AT ALL surprised we were the only ones in the theater. After the $46 price tag, I totally understood why.

So anyway Poor Papa spilled his orange soda all over his shoes as we were walking up the stairs to our seat. The Boy, actually had a sweet boy moment, and gave his drink to Papa. Thanks for sharing. The boy wanted to sit at the very top of the theater, so we did. It was so cute because Papa said, "Wow I've never sat up here before."

All in all it was an alright movie. I can't deny a tear might have been shed towards the end. I had to say it was alright because it was VERY VIOLENT. For a moment I thought I was watching a war film with all the explosions, gun fire and robots being destroyed. I wouldn't really consider this an appropriate movie for small children because of the violence.

So here are some pictures of our movie adventure. No persons were bothered by the flash of the camera. Like I said we were the only ones in the theater.

BTW I'm HATING my BLACKBERRY. It sucks for taking pictures and than even more so pulling them off onto my computer. I CAN'T WAIT TILL MY "MY TOUCH" ARRIVES THIS WEEK!

Seriously Auntie, I'm trying to watch the movie! It's just a hot dog!
I love me some popcorn!

Astro Boy, kicking some Robot BUTT!!

You've got to end the MOVIE adventure with a treat from the quarter machine. The Boy got a GIANT jawbreaker for $1. Yeah hello remember when these use to be a QUARTER. Papa got himself some $.50 M&M'S and I got some Lotsa Sours.

What was the last movie you saw?

My son wants to see that, I'll let hubby take him. We saw Meatballs. Kids liked it, I slept through it..oh well!!

I went and saw "Its raining meatballs" (love the new title) with Hayden a couple of weeks ago. Very cute movie and good for his age. He actually sat through the whole thing which made me happy.

Thanks for the insight on that movie though, probably not the best for my 2.5 year old. Maybe when it comes out on DVD...

The last movie I saw was maybe UP. So cute, and equally as expensive! I love empty theaters though - so much quieter!!

Tuesday is Movie Day around here so last Tuesday since Daddy was out of town, we went to the theater to see Up. So cute...love that and we both said we'll have to take Daddy back to see it.

We go to the dollar theater because otherwise we couldn't afford to go! It's only $1 to get in each and the large combo (popcorn and pop) is only $9.50. Free refills so it works for all of us. On Tuesday it's popcorn and pop for $1 each. They're small but if it's just Spence and I we get out of the theater full of treats for under $10!

Last time when we got to the movie theater we paid almost $50 and decided not to go to the theater again:)(for a while)Hehe.. Great pics!

Sometimes my comment goes twice. Sorry about that. My pc is too slow and doesn't go through if I don't click twice.

Movies are crazy expensive! I think the last time I went to a movie was more than 4 years ago! And we probably snuck our own snacks and drinks in with us. :)

My dad takes my daughter to the movies so she's not deprived though. Thank goodness for Grandpa!

Movies are super expensive. I think the last one hubs and I saw in the theater was Angels and Demons

Wow... No football this week....

I am not sure what the last movie was I saw. I think it was Marley and Me.

And this is why my mother taught me to use the ninja stealth skills to sneak food into the theater. Growing up we never got theater food. We always had pockets and bags full of treats (even homemade popcorn) to enjoy while watching the movie. $46 is a bit ridiculous if you ask me.

We saw Astro Boy this weekend, too. I thought it was ok. Our theater was packed.

We just saw Surrogates on Friday. And I agree movies are insanely expensive, especially when I can get some Red Box action so easily.
We usually just wait for it to come out on video.

That is funny. I asked Aidyn if you gave him change from the $20. He said no Auntie spent it all. He said he liked the movie. Thanks for taking him, was an afternoon off for me. Woo hooo.

HOLY CRAP. That is why I never get the food at the movies. I usually sneak it in like a bad kid!

WOW that's definitely a ridiculous price tag for a movie - but looks like it was a well spent $46 with some great memories! Glad your job went well on your first day - and even better that you were able to really rest over the weekend before starting the job! Have a great day! xoxoxo

Z came home the other day after being out with my BF with an AStro boy toy from McDonalds...the thing is a weapon. I caught him aiming it at my nieces head JUST IN TIME :) I am glad you had fun and good to know that the movie is violent. I am with you on the rip off that is the movies. I bring Z to the kidtoon matinees and I always end up spending a fortune. i have finally become one of those moms who sneaks snacks in her purse :) The last movie I saw was Harry Potter.

Thanks for all of your kind words about the baby :) I played the Google game on my blog today!

honestly, the last movie i saw in a theater, someone gave us free passes to rendition, with jake gyllenhaal (MMM!) and reese whateverherface. before this, i dont even remember the last time we were at the movies! i can't justify paying that much when i could go buy it at walmart 3 weeks later for 19.99, and watch it numerous times. i know it's for the atmosphere and just getting out and all that but holy F*^% its expensive!!

Our son is still not interested in watching entire films. We watch about ten minutes of Cars before he asks "Can I watch The Eagles or Billy Joel now?" Which in the long run, is AWESOME.

Love the pics. And my BB takes ok pics and I just email them to myself.

I took my oldest to see Ponyo. You never know what you're gonna get at kids' movies these days!

That is so great that you took pictures in the theater while the movie was playing.

We usually have to take out a loan to go to the movies and now a days they're not giving loans. So I guess we don't get to go very much. It looks like you all have a blast though.

Thanks for the review. We may watch it when it comes out on DVD. I recently went to the movies with my husband and teenage daughter. We went on bargain night and watched Stepfather. It wasn't much of a bargain as it still cost a small fortune. The movie was all right. Same thriller plot, different character.
By the way, I was paired up with you to feature your blog. Here is the direct link:

Movies are ridiculous! We always end up paying more at the snack bar than getting in the actual movie too, so crazy. Unless it is an absolute must see movie, we wait until it comes on pay per view, pop some movie theater style popcorn, drinks some soda and eat some candy. So much cheaper and more comfortable in our own home!

The last movie we saw was "The Hangover"...date night for me and the boyfriend and we went to the cheap theatres (where we'll probably go for date night tomorrow too).

As a family the last movie we saw was...hmmm, now I can't remember lol. Oh I think it was Monsters in the Attic.

And yes the movies are very expensive...my boy is dying to see Astro Boy but I want to wait until it's in the cheapie seats.

You know theatres don't actually make any money off ticket sales? All the profit comes from the concession stands.

I confess, I'm a food sneaker-inner too, but I do love me some fountain pop.

I refuse to go to theaters for movies anymore. Except the movie tavern which is a two in one restaurant and movie. love that place!
and do you mean cloudy with a chance of meatballs? That movie was AWESOME!

Unless we go to the matinee, I generally will wait to see it on video. I had no idea food was that expensive though!

This is random but I thought it was really cool. Our sons are both named Gage!

I hate how expensive movie theaters are! Seriously it's just a movie and some snacks! And those snacks ALWAYS lure me in! Somehow I end up with popcorn and nachos and candy and a drink...and then I'm broke! lol. Sounds like you guys had fun though! Sometimes it's nice to just take a day and relax and enjoy yourself...and your crazy expensive popcorn! :)

Movie theater prices are INSANE now. I remember when it was five bucks. Craziness!

I Know! WTH happened to the $1 show that what I wanna know. LOL

YOu need to take out a loan to go to the show and we sneak drinks and snacks in our pockets so we don't get milked at the counters.

I always bring in my big purse and we sneak food in! No joke. We love going to the movies but it racks up so we save a little bit by bringing in drinks.

We just went and saw Paranormal Activity. Oh- creepy and good. I actually thought it was real!!! I like ghost stories (no horror) and I thought it was good. Chris checked out 10 minutes in and read the Wiki page on his phone. Dork. So he wasn't impressed.
