1 plus 99 EQUALS

What do you get when you add 1 plus 99? 100, that is. Yup this is my 100th post!

I KNOW THIS IS A LONG POST, BUT IT'S FUNNY, SO READ IT! At least I think it's funny! You all know I have got to toot my own horn. TooT, TooT! PLUS THERE IS A SURPRISE AT THE END!

If you would have asked me three months ago when I started this whole blog thing, If I'd ever reach 155 plus followers and 100 posts. PLUS not to mention over 10,000 PAGE VIEWS. Half of those 10,000 are probably from ME, but who's counting. Not me, no Sir!

So if you would have asked me that 3 months ago, I probably would have laughed so hard that I'd tinkled my pants and gave myself rib cramps.

I am shocked and proud to have actually stuck to something for this long. Yes this is long for me! I mean hello, I change my darn blog design every 5 minutes, it's no surprise I can't stick to things?

FOR EXAMPLE - over the past two years I've taken or done the following:

1) H&R Block tax classes - Didn't finish, almost but became bored out of my mind and thought it was a complete joke. I've been doing my own taxes for years, waste of my time. Don't trust H&R block people. Insider tip!

2) Cake Decorating classes - Didn't finish, graduated the first two classes, but who has time to make 50 fondant roses. Not me. I was more creative then the teacher in the class, hello have you seen my cakes? They don't teach you that talent in cake class.

3) Taught myself to crochet - Have yet to finish my gigantor blanket I started MONTHS and MONTHS ago, but I will, hopefully when the weather gets cooler. Umm It's been in the high 90's low 100's all summer.

4) Taught myself to sew - Sure I've finished several projects, but I don't take the time to measure or sew perfectly straight. Who has time for that? Not to mention I have yet to even start The BF's fish bag, to which he asks for on a daily basis.

5) Tuesday Football tracker - Yeah I've already wanted to skip this post 2 weeks in a row now. We will see how many more weeks I can get through or if I can even get through the entire season. That would be a SHOCKER!

I could go on and on and on. Do you see any pattern here? Do you understand now why I'm surprised to have met this mark?

I'm always looking for new and different, anything to stimulate my mind.

I guess what keeps me here is the fact that each post is something new and different. I mean some posts have similar themes, however the content of each post is unique in it's own way.

Not to mention I love visiting other people's blogs and finding out that there are people out there who are WAY CRAZIER than me. Just kidding, but no seriously. Some of you are crazy, I'm the normal one. Does anyone else think blogging is a great form of Therapy. Way cheaper too!

I thought long and hard about what I wanted my 100th post to say. Long and hard being a whole whopping HOUR! You thought I was going to say Five minutes didn't you. Yup no, for an entire hour I sat here thinking, pondering on what I could possibly write about.

Envision: My brain, black smoke, yeah nothing there. Then AHHHHHHHHH I see the light. The grand puba of all posts.

Okay now I'm just building this whole 100th post thing up.

Seriously, lets get down to the nitty gritty! I thought I would elaborate on my blog name.

Smell the Coffee Lisa

I've read a lot of comments by people who think that my blog is about coffee and how they were a bit upset to find nothing here about coffee. Don't get me wrong I love my coffee but that's not what it's all about.

The definition of Smell the Coffee is as follows:

When someone doesn't realise what is really happening or is not paying enough attention to events around them, you can tell them to wake up and smell the coffee.

I think we have all been there, right? No, not you? Well I have, who am I kidding. No one's life is perfect, we all have our quirks and who am I to judge anyone for what they do, who they are or what they have to say. I've always said "to each his own!"

Anyway, after reading that definition it reminded me of a scene in the movie, X-MEN ORIGINS. If you have not seen the movie, I think it's worth a netflix rental.

This is also a Possible SPOILER alert, but not an entire movie spoiler, yeah it might actual spoil a good chunk of the movie.

Let me set the scene:

Kayla is Logan's wife and a school teacher. Logan is the Wolverine (well he's not the "Wolverine" just yet, this is how he chooses his name.) Kayla and Logan are sitting in the living room of their cabin one night and Kayla says to Logan.

Kayla Silverfox: Why the moon is so lonely?

Logan: Why?

Kayla Silverfox: Because she used to have a lover.

Logan: You tell this to the kids?

Kayla Silverfox: No.
[Logan laughs]

Kayla Silverfox: His name was Kuekuatsu and they lived in the spirit
world together.

Logan: Oh, this is a true story.

Kayla Silverfox: Mm-hm. And every night, they would wander the skies
together. But, one of the other spirits was jealous. Trickster
wanted the Moon for himself. So he told Kuekuatsu that the Moon had
asked for flowers; he told him to come to our world and pick her
some wild roses. But Kuekuatsu didn't know that once you leave the
spirit world, you can never go back. And every night, he looks up
in the sky and sees the Moon and howls her name. But... he can
never touch her again.

Logan: Wow... Koo-koo-katchoo got screwed!

So later on Kayla goes to state that Kuekuatsu means Wolverine hence how he gets his name. Blah, Blah, Blah. Go see the movie!

Back to my story! If only we had a little man sitting on our shoulders telling us to Smell the Coffee, whenever we are about to make a wrong move. Oh to believe in rainbows and butterflies. Life would be a lot less stressful. We'd know right away what decisions to make regarding every and any situation we encounter in life, no matter what that might be. Why can't there be that little man, so we don't end up screwed like Koo-koo-katchoo. LOL

So in short, Smell the Coffee Lisa is really just a blog about my life and daily activities. I don't have a specific blog theme or plan, except that it's just about me.

I may not be the brightest crayon in the box. I like to say I'm book smart, not street smart. I'm also oblivious to a lot of things that go on around me. I'm a busy girl with a million things on my mind and often lose focus of my original goals.

But HEY, I'm at least woman enough to admit every now and then that I need someone to say:

"Wake up and Smell the Coffee Lisa!"

GIVEAWAY!

So if you read this post in it's entirety, wow you must not have a life. LOL just kidding, you are my number 1 fan! I'm going to give away one of my chalkboards (your choice) from the swap your crafts post. Since only 1 other person joined the craft swap I've got them to giveaway. You get 1 entry. This shall be super easy for my loyal fans! Yup just leave a comment and I'll randomly have my son say a number and if your post is that number you win! Now aren't I clever, or just lazy. The first to comment obviously is number ONE and then I'll count down from there.

http://smellthecoffeelisa.blogspot.com/2009/10/swap-your-crafts-october-edition.html

click the above link to see the chalkboards!

My only rule! I may not be very good at following rules, however I've perfected dishing them out! Your comment has to have some substance to show that you actually read my post or at least parts of it. Torture, I know! Just commenting, "congrats on your 100th post," yeah umm that's not gonna cut it, the winner will then default to the comment BEFORE YOU. These are one of a kind chalkboards, priceless people so you have to do a little work. It's not like I'm making you link to my blog or post about it. LOL I mean you can if you want to.

Now get a commenting.

Maybe I'll get 100 comments, a girl can dream, right!

How exciting to hit your 100th post, AND you learned to crochet, sew, and decorate cakes???? Where ever do you find the time?? ;-) CONGRATS!! I hope your son picks ME!

Congrats on you 100th post! And all your followers. I'm working on that one (hint hint for anyone who stops by your page).

If it makes you feel any better, I started crocheting my huge blanket (my pride and joy) in May and just finished 2 weeks ago.

Congrats again and have a great day!

Congrats on your 100th post!

I completely know what you mean about starting something an not getting all the way through. I am SO like that too. I used to do a lot of decorative painting and even some craft shows and then just dropped it for sewing. I'm shocked that I've been at it for this long!

Great post and here's to 100 more!

Love the new look by the way!

Congrats on your 100th post...

Seriously I considered only posting that just to be a smart ass, but I just couldn't void my chances at one of those chalkboards.

My Hub has a mild hatred for H&R. Not sure why but I will tell him you said it is justified. Also I LOVE that movie. We missed it in the theaters so when it came out on DVD I just bought it (without seeing it first). Who can not love a movie where the chances of seeing Hugh Jackman mostly naked are high. However, and this may reveal my inner nerd, again, but I couldn't spot Stan Lee in this one. You?

Congratulations on your 100th post! You have accomplished so much in such a short time with your blog. Tax classes?? I too would find those so boring!

I was thinking about the name of your blog the other day. It made me realize that there is no race that I am trying to win in this life...I need to slow down a bit!

Congrats :)

Blogging is definitely a form of therapy for me too. My favorite time is in the morning, when the house is still asleep. It is the one thing I do for just myself everyday-even if it is only for a few minutes. :)

Frugal Vicki said...

Okay, seriously? What would you like me to say to prove I read it because I got so confused that by the time I got to koo koo katchoo, I wasn't sure if I was reading about x-men or those stupid little cartoon guys wth is his name? Pokeman or something? And you tell us that you quit classes (ahem, I always knew they were crooked), and I haven't seen your cakes but fifty fondant roses is ridiculous, I love you because you are random, and ask anyone who can actually follow a conversation with me, I am too. Anywho, I love you, happy 100th post! You are awesome girly!

Emmy said...

Wow, you do have quite the tough rules!

And you know I love you girl and read your blog, so enter me!!

Am I really that Random. The xmen movie quote really I thought I had a point. LOL I mean if he had someone to tell him to wake up and smell the coffee he would have know he was being tricked. Right? Yeah no? Maybe?

If this comment number is picked, you below me, you win.

I just found your blog through creative attempts. I really enjoyed reading your post. You made me want to watch both x-men and I had no desire before now. I really needed to hear your post today. Lately I have felt like I have just been going along with my life instead of living it and paying attention to my GREAT blessing I have. Congrats on your 100th post!

Apparently I have no life because I read the whole damn thing! Ha ha! Great post...I'm glad I'm not the only one who took those cake decorating classes and came out going huh? I came out with a few new tricks, but either you have that steady hand or you don't right.
Congrats on your 100th post!

PS I can't believe you can sew , crochet and do taxes...you are supergirl.

thatdesigngal said...

Great post! I totally have to agree with you. I need a little someone to be on my shoulder telling me I am apart to make the wrong move. I have been looking to my friends and asking them that same question (recently), and I need to be asking that of myself. Hence all of the stress in my life lately....at a crossroads.

Blogging is a great form of therapy!

Have a great day chica! Fingers crossed- I want a chalkboard!!

Oh my, you must have been my twin separated at birth and now we have just found each other in the blogsphere. If you are the queen of starting something and not finishing, then I have to be first runner up. I do it cuz it make like interesting and fun. Also,I can say, "hey- I've done that." It doesn't mean I've mastered it or won a Nobel Prize for it.

Congrats on 100, I love reading your posts.

I think I may finally have met someone who's started (and not finished) almost as many projects as you. But I'm older, so it's not really fair.

Congrats on turning 100! Posts, that is.

I forgot to tell you, I found a way to back up your blog. Are you still trying to figure that out?

Valerie @ Frugal Family Fun Blog said...

I am loving your blog -- so funny! Congrats on 100 posts! It's quite the milestone, and unlike all your unfinished projects, I do hope you keep up your blog (for my own selfish reasons, of course). By the way, YOU should have taught that cake decorating class! Also, I can't believe people were disappointed to not find anything related to coffee here. Your blog is WAY better than coffee!!! I mean, really... priorities, people.

Amy said...

This is an amazing time for you. You have a huge list of things that you have finished and some that you gave a try but did other things. I have enjoyed all of your crafty ideas. Keep those coming I love getting new ideas. Thanks for stopping by on my big day. I am so happy you made it to 100 and 155 followers. Yeah... Have a great day. I hope the boy calls out my number...

OMG! you are too funny!

I know exactly what you mean about starting things and never finishing them. I did the H&R Block class two years in a row and dropped out because I got bored. Ha! Ha! Ha!

Okay, congrats on your 100th post! I've seen all the X Men Movies down to Wolverine. :-)

Small House said...

WE ARE SO MUCH A LIKE! I don't finish a lot of things I start either. I start out with GREAT expectations, and plans....but I get bored way, way to quickly.

Congratulations on reaching your 100th post!

Wow, you taught yourself how to crochet! I love sewing and cake decorating but crocheting is quite another story! I usually just end up making a ball of tangled yarn and no one seems to be impressed so I leave the crocheting to people who have the talent and patience to make lovely things with yarn.

Tracie said...

Congrats on your 100th post!! I don't have the patience for sewing. I don't like to measure.
