Time Traveler's Wife - SCORES BIG

So the girls and I went to see The Time Traveler's Wife on Saturday, and I have to say after watching my sisters keeper (you read my review, if not read it before wasting any money on the movie.) I was really hesitant to see this movie. It's been over a year since I have read this book, and I loved it!! I definitely recommend this book. It is a must read.

NO SPOILER ALERTS HERE! THIS IS OKAY TO READ!
Anyway, I wasn't really excited to see the movie. I mean it had to be a hot mess of a movie, right? How could they seamlessly turn this book that has so many flashbacks in it, not to mention the book jumps around so much, into a decent movie? I asked my sister what she thought the movie would be like and she said, "horrible."
We were both wrong, so wrong!

This movie was done so well! At least I don't think there was anything they could have done to make it any better, besides making the film longer and adding a few more details, to which I think would have been unnecessary scenes in the film. I was so impressed I wanted to cry at how well this movie tied to the book and how wonderful this was filmed. It was so refreshing to watch this movie. Granted, a lot of parts from the book were missing (it's a really long book), or lightly touched on, but it didn't matter I felt the movie was complete as is. I won't go into details as to what was missing or lightly touched on because I don't want to spoil this for anyone. Those who read the book know what I mean. The movie felt complete without those parts, so I was happy.

This had to be the best BOOK to MOVIE I have EVER SEEN! I think it blew Twilight out of the water. The characters were just how I imagined they would be while reading the book. Granted it had been a year plus since I read the book and I didn't remember all the tiny details, but the big picture was there and it was PERFECT.

I heard the movie was getting poor reviews. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. Who's giving these reviews, probably the same people who said my sisters keeper was a great movie? The book isn't in chronological order, so what if the movie is? It still has the important flashbacks and if you pay attention to the movie, his hair gives away his age and where you are in the book. Flawless people, I mean were you paying attention to the small details of the movie? Did you see the lipstick in the bathroom cabinet? That was enough, they didn't need to delve into the back story behind that, the movie would have just dragged itself out. Some details, just didn't need to be explained, but they incorporated them into the movie in the slightest way to make it perfect!

Don't get my wrong my sisters keeper was an OKAY movie at best, but it didn't tie to the book. Time Traveler's wife, hit the nail on the head. In short THE BOOK WAS GIVEN PROPER JUSTICE.

If you've seen the movie but have not read the book, read the book, there's a lot of great details and back stories in the book that they didn't show in the movie that will make this already amazing movie even better.

If you have read the book but have not seen the movie, then GO SEE THE MOVIE. I don't think you will disappointed, especially since most book to movies have been so Crappy.

Have you read the book or seen the movie? Thoughts?

On a side note, since the girls went out to the movies, it was only fair that they boys got to go see a movie. The boys went to see GI JOE. The BF really wanted to see District 9, but he also wanted to see GI JOE. He said it was alright, nothing special. I was surprised to hear him say that because he usually loves those type of movies. Maybe he was having an off day I don't know.

Speaking of District 9, I heard it got amazing reviews. That this is a must see movie. It's totally not kid friendly and is said to be very bloody. I'm hoping to see it tonight. We will see.
I DID IT, I DID IT!! I FREAKIN ROCK!!
What's that? Well I figured out how to type a name and when you click on it, it links you to that persons blog. This is a huge feat for me! Is feat, spelled like that? Is that even a word? Whatever. Anyway, here it is, LMAO, of course it links back to my blog. Who else would it link to? Smell the coffee lisa. I don't know what took me so long to learn this, or actually try to figure it out, but I did. IT'S SOOO EASY!! Well the truth, I was LAZY, there you have it.
Enjoy!!

There are so many movies I want to see.. so I will add this one to the list.

I am interested to see how The Lovely Bones turns out in the movies. That is a book I did read and liked very much.

You know, I've been debating whether or not I wanted to go out and see The Time Traveler's Wife because I've read so many conflicting reviews. I know that a lot of people who say negative things about movies based on books are just being nitpicky, though, so I really think I'm going to add this to the list of things to see.

Thanks for sharing your opinion!

Thanks for your post! I am reading this book now and was worried about seeing the movie after I am done and being disappointed. I am purposely not going to see My Sister's Keeper after reading your review because I cherished the book so much. So this sounds like it will be much better to go and see. P.S. Love your new look for the blog.

I'm a big believer in book first, movie later. I find that the movies they base off of books are HORRIB PEICES OF SHIT. Cant wait to read this one.

I am actually in the middle of reading Marley and Me. I had no idea it was a real story. I haven't seen the movie yet. I really want to see the time traveler's wife. I am apparently way out of it since I didn't know there was a book, I will get that!

I haven't read the book or seen the movie, but I do love when a movie does the book justice. It so rarely happens! And congrats on the link thing!

I am so excited that you liked the movie! I just read a poor review and was SO bummed! I am dying to see the movie and I haven't even read the book! I figure I'll see the movie and then read the book so I only have the movie to compare it to instead of vice versa. Isn't it nice how well it works out that way but what a disaster it can be to read the book and then see the movie?! Now I am excited to see it!!

I soooo wanna see this movie! Hubby and I haven't had date night in a while, and I'm hoping to go see this one when we go. Oh but I wanna see G.I. Joe too! I love me some action in a movie...and seeing the hot guy playing soldier isn't bad either, he he! Glad you had a great time!

LOL...congrats on figuring that out!

You made the movie sound even better. I've got to get a friend to go watch with me soon.

I did like Sisters Keeper but knew they didnt do it justice...and I didnt even read the book. Once i do I'm sure I wont like the movie at all...there was too much left wondering. know what i mean?

I'm still on the fence about this movie. I hear a lot of people say that it is a tearjerker, but you know I am not one for crying at movies. I can't even get through an episode of Extreme Home Makeover without crying. Who am I kidding, I'm crying within 30 seconds. I'm such a sucker. lol

Thanks for stopping by!!! I have heard that My Sister's Keeper did not do the book justice so I don't want to see it. I have not read the Time Travelers Wife, but intend to do so before watching the movie - and thanks to your post I will probably watch the movie instead of avoiding it like the other.
