Book Club starts FEB 1, 2010. We will be reading The Help, by Kathryn Stockett. Feel free to pick the book and join us.
I just completed The Quickie, by James Patterson. I was a bit hesitant to read this book as I'm not one for murder mystery type books. I have to admit I was into the book in the beginning, then in the middle not so much. I forced myself to continue reading and I have to say that this book surprised me. I didn't think it was as great as everyone portrayed it to be, however the ending really made the book. There were a lot of twists to the book, however it started to become a bit predictable, and left you wondering what was going to happen next. I was expecting it for some reason to be a choppy read, because of all the twists I was told this book takes. I actually found it a smooth easy quick read. I actually think this would make a great movie.
Have you read it? What was your take on the book?
So I'm going to attempt something I've never done before. Read two books at one time. OH YEAH! I will be reading The Help along side, Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. I think I could use a little inspiration these days. It's been raining for 10 days straight and I need a pick me up. I love the rain, but this dark gloominess that is my world needs a bit of sunshine.
What are you reading? Will you be joining me in reading either of these two books?

I pretty much love all of James Patterson's books, they are QUICK reads and the Quickie had a shocker! :)
The Help was awesome.
good luck with your work and book club.
I just started reading The Wednesday Sisters ~ only a few pages in. The Help sounds pretty good, might have to try to fit it in.
The Help is a good choice!
ooo I've been looking for a good nonschool book to read! thanks for the rec., maybe I'll pick up the Quickie this week! I read Eat Pray Love and it is the most inspirational beautiful moving book I've read in a long time. They are making a movie about it with Julie Roberts right now!! :) You are in for a great read, hope you like it!
Lisa, you need to read "The Art of Happiness" By Dr. Coulter. Also a life changing type of book. Was amazing. I still crack it open and read individual chapters years after first reading it.
the help and the quickie have both been highly recommended to me but i havent read either yet. I have been reading the mortal instrament series and think it's okay but nothing earth shattering lol. i am excited to hear what you think of the help.
I just finished The Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkes. It was great. Started out slow but was a really good book in the end. I am about to start The Help (as soon as I get it from the library). Can't wait.
