Good thing's come in 4's!

My baby is 4 months old and weighs 4lbs 2 ounces. She's now old enough and big enough to be spayed.

Can you believe her Vet gave me a quote for $513.00 to spay her? When I told them I thought that was ridiculous they went over the list of charges and by the time we were finished the bill went from $513 all the way down to $145.

Half the items on the list were simply unnecessary and OPTIONAL. Even the nurse who went over the charges admitted that almost all the items on the list were not necessary.

Like $50 to do a fluoride treatment on her teeth. What the heck does that have to do with her being spayed? Does she really need an EKG for $80 and tons of blood tests for her liver? I really don't think she needs a catheter or a fluid drip. The nurse admitted that most kittens don't need any of that. Makes we wonder how many people actually paid all that money and didn't think to question what the charges were for and what procedures actually needed to be done.

She's a kitten, a healthy kitten at that, not a human. I don't know, am I crazy to think $513 is way to much? Am I crazy to take the risk to not do testing to see how my baby Chloe will react while being under anesthesia?

So she'll be getting spayed sometime in December, for $145. The $145 covers the actual surgery, the anesthesia to completely knock her out, pain management shots and medication for afterwards. Oh yeah and a cone to put around her head ($10 for the cone).

So my advice to everyone, always ask for a detailed break down of your pet's Vet bills BEFORE they do any procedures. This way you can find out if they really NEED to do all that they are suggesting.

On a ROLL. Literally!

My son's been doing really well in his bowling league the past few weeks. His team is in last place, but he has been beating his average, smiling and having fun. This past weekend he bowled a 92, 138 and 84. His average right now is 80. I'm so happy for him, because he's actually enjoying bowling.

This past weekend his head needed to be popped as he was dancing around saying he had the highest score at one point, on his team. Remember this is a kid who the past year has always had the worst score. I put him in his place! Well the best that I could, for a kid who has as much attitude as his Mother.

So The BF and I decided we are going to get him his own bowling ball for Christmas. We are going to get him a 10lb Transformers bowling ball! We are not going to have the holes drilled until he learns to bowl with his fingers in the hole. Right now he just pushes the ball off his chest. Whatever works, I don't care as long as he's having fun!

Sorry for the craptastic photo of his final scores of the first two games. LOL I can't wait to post pictures of the bowling ball.

Handle With Care

I finally got my hands on a copy of the book, Handle With Care, by Jodi Picoult. The same author of the book, My Sisters Keeper. I'd been to frugal to actually spend $16 on the book ($27 hard cover), and my Sister just so happened to have it when I mentioned I wanted to read it last Friday. So she let me borrow it.

I'm liking the book so far. I really, really LOVED My Sisters Keeper, however HATED the movie.

NO SPOILERS! OKAY TO READ!

Handle With Care, is written in the exact same format as my Sister's keeper. I wonder if that is how all her books are written? Each chapter is a different character, telling their side of what is happening and what they are thinking and saying at that given time in the story.

Both books also follow this exact storyline:

A family with a sick, dying or past away child
A sibling who is destructive and or self destructive
A husband and wife torn apart by different beliefs
A lawsuit
A lawyer with their own back story that some how relates to the family

My Sisters Keeper threw a WICKED curve ball at the end, so I am curious to find out if this book will have a similar jaw dropping ending. I'm 200 pages into the 477 page book and I've started it last night. Yeah it's addicting like that! I just want to know, WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!

I'm not going to provide you with any spoilers or tell you even what the book is about, besides what you read above and that isn't telling you much. I want you to read these books as they are really great books!

Next on my reading list. LOVELY BONES! The made it into a movie, which will hit theaters soon. It looks really good.

If you wanna be me, be me!

If you wanna be you, be you.

I GOT IT!! The first item off my wish list I posted a few weeks back. I'm an impulse buyer and when I want something, I just have to have it.

I GOT THE NEW MY TOUCH, and GUESS WHAT! I'M LOVING IT!

The applications are wonderful and very accurate. Like the movie finder, yellow pages and traffic conditions. My son is loving the games and so am I. I don't think the IPHONE has shizat on the my touch.

Umm did I mention it is WHITE. Yeah how cute is that? The best part, I didn't have to pay $500 for it. My blackberry broke, for the 4th time and they refused to send me another phone, so I got to pick any phone I wanted for the price of a new contract!

I've had it for about a week now and I'm still singing, "If you wanna be me, me!"

When is to much, TOO MUCH?

Some people are obsessed with shoes, make-up, purses and or jewelry. Me, I've become obsessed with scarfs. Yup scarfs. How many is too many? I have 16 scarfs. Each scarf cost me no more than $1. This weekend I scored most of those scarfs from Old Navy during their $1 scarf sale. Me being the frugal person that I am, scored them for $.70 EACH! Yup I got an extra 30 % off for using my Old Navy Card. The rest, BUT OF COURSE, are from Walmart

The sad part is, I WANT MORE!! There are so many cute scarfs out there! I don't even live in an area where it gets really, really cold or even snow. I don't care, it will be 70 degrees and you're gonna find me wearing my scarf

Here are 15 of my scarfs, one of them was in the laundry. When is to many scarfs, just too many? Am I at that point yet?

What is your obsession?

The color GREEN - TAG I'm it!

Tamela over at A Brunette Making It One Day At a Time tagged me. YES ME, of all people! I'm feeling super special!

I read Tamela's blog pretty much everyday! I'm very excited to announce that she has just recently started selling Avon. I was a little hesitant at first, I use to sell Mary Kay, and Mary SCAM is a better word for it. However, the more Tamela posts about the different products and how reasonable they are in price the more I have become interested in Avon. I was not aware of the fact that they sold more than just make up and perfume. Did you know they have jewelry and clothes? Cute clothes, did you see that hat she posted on her blog? If you are interested then you need to visit Tamela's for more information.

NO SHE IS NOT PAYING ME TO PLUG HER BLOG. Take my word for it and just visit her. You won't regret it! I promise!

So anyway, she tagged me GREEN!

What does that mean? I need to find 7 things that are green around my house and share them here with you!

So here they are:

Yummy, Pickles! My favorite food, not to mention they are of course GREEN!

It's almost Halloween so I thought it only appropriate to post my son's Vampire teeth.

This is a real CRYSTAL vase The BF brought home. Isn't it adorable! I love it and it weighs a ton

I finished the last of my bottle Sherry Dry Wine today. I used the last of it up in tonight's dinner. Spinach, onions and mushrooms sauteed. YUM!! Add a little S&P to top it off.

Isn't this froggy so cute? I purchased this at the hospital gift shop when my Dad was in the hospital. My impulse buy, I know. It's supposed to hold a picture frame, however I think he's cute the way he is, without it!

The BF's fish tank. The fake plants are green. I love fake plants as they are all over my house. I like how they are low maintenance, need no water and never die. Unless Chloe pulls out all the fake leaves.

Finally my cute bird, ROMO! Yeah he's green even though he's named after the Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Tony Romo.

I'm TAGGING EVERYONE! Your color is.................................................................................RED!

Don't forget to change your clocks this weekend. I think you change it Saturday night at 2AM. Don't hold me to it, google it to make sure. LOL

Let the BLOG PARTY BEGIN!!

Kristen over at Coo Coo's Ca Choo, This is a story of a girl is having a

BLOG PARTY!

Kristen is throwing this blog party in effort to bring more traffic to every one's blog. Although I'm not one for "fake" traffic or followers, I decided to join this party! I feel like there are so many blogs out there and I seriously could be missing out on some GREAT content!

So Kristen took everyone who joined the party and partnered them up with another blogger. We are to then feature that blogger on our blog. I think this is a "SMOKIN" idea! I was hoping and praying I'd get partnered up with a blog to which I would actually enjoy, AND I DID! I'm the luckiest girl in the world! LOL Does that make me SHALLOW? Oh well if it does, I mean who wants to feature a blog to which they are not even interested in. Certainly not me, I don't fake blog remember.

So I'm very EXCITED to say that I have just been matched with......

Wait for it!

Wait for it!

Wait for it!

Cassie over at My Life with Kids!

This is my first time visiting Cassie's blog! My first reaction, "OMG her blog is PINK! ROCK ON!" I mean, who doesn't like PINK? Not me, I love PINK! You have to respect a nice blog design. I think a great easy to read blog design brings people back to your site over and over again! If you blog design is hard to read it can detour people from re-visiting your blog. Cassie's blog hits the nail on the button. I'll Definitely visit her on a daily!

So who is Cassie? I've asked Cassie to write a brief description of who she is. So I'm now going to hand the keyboard over to Cassie.

Please give a SMELL THE COFFEE LISA round of applause for CASSIE!

"I am a 30 something stay at home mom with two small boys. I like reading and politics although this blog isn't about that at all. I write mostly about the day to day craziness of running after the kids and their activites."

I've asked Cassie to provide me with a link to her favorite post. However, before I get to her favorite post, I wanted to post a link or two, possibly three, you know me. To what I think is my favorite post on her site.

It was so hard to pick, just one. I mean I loved her post about "being that girl" You know the one who dances and sings in her car? Yeah that is Cassie and that is also me! I am so guilty of doing that more often then not. Come on now, you know you are just as guilty as we are!

Then there was her post about "Things kids Say" It appears to be her Thursday MEME. Who doesn't love the crazy things that come out their child's mouth.

I know my son can say some pretty crazy things. Like the time he told me he wanted a Tattoo on his butt and I asked him what it would say and he said, "Gage is cool, bakugan rules!" That my friend is why 9 yr olds are not allowed to get tattoos.

Here's a sample of the things that come out of Cassie's kids mouths. I was laughing so hard I had tears coming out of my eyeballs. I can so relate to her, I might have join in on this fun! You know my relationship with commitment though, so we will see.

6 year old: Mom, why didn't you name me something cool?
Me: What would be a cool name?
6 year old: Lightning Bolt

3 year old: Mom, can I have something to eat? (We were watching the older boy's football game.)
Me: Sure, how about a pretzel?
3 year old: But the pretzels all have white polka dots on them.
Me: Yep, its called salt.

So the post I chose as my favorite, though I think they all rock because I CAN RELATE to them all, was..................

Things Not to do at a Six Year old's Birthday Party!

First off, you are wave BRAVER and COOLER than I am to bring LIVE REPTILES into your home. Seriously I saw that picture of that BIG OLE snake. What were you thinking? Then there was the whole Chocolate Water fountain. Again, WHAT were you thinking? However, CAN I BE YOUR CHILD? I can totally relate to the whole cuts and bruises and the kids running around all over the place. Birthday parties are chaotic and crazy. Next year I'm bribing my son out of having a birthday party. You think he'd rather have $100 than a party? I hope so! I won't spoil the rest of the post, just go read it for yourself!

Now for Cassie's pick of her favorite post!

My favorite post is probably http://cassie-ylifewithkids.blogspot.com/2009/10/insomnia.html.

Although I have been enjoying writing the funny things my kids say on Thursdays like this one http://cassie-mylifewithkids.blogspot.com/2009/10/things-kids-say-thursday.html.

So that's Cassie in a nut shell. You're missing out on great content if you don't go visit her. She's definitely been added to my daily blog roll. I can't wait to read what she posts next!

What's the big deal, It's just a PIPE CLEANER!

I don't know what it is about pipe cleaners, but CHLOE is obsessed with them. They are ALL OVER the house. She keeps pulling them out of The Boy's art easel and when I think I've finally thrown away the last pipe cleaner, one more manages to pop up out of no where. See for yourself.

Don't mind the crappy Blackberry Photos!

I have to admit as annoying as it is finding these all over the house. Even behind the toilets, it's pretty amusing to watch her roll around and actually do flips in the air as she plays with them.

She's also obsessed with the laundry basket. I even found her trapped inside it, because she knocked it off the table and it landed upside down on her. Poor thing looked like she was in jail. I should have snapped a picture.

Of course, yes that's a pipe cleaner she is playing with in the laundry basket.

What the heck is that? Oh it's just another pipe cleaner in the bathroom and in the kitchen.

Chloe's worse than having a 2nd child. It's no wonder why I'm always exhausted.

How cute are these two lounging on the couch? You see that snake? Yup The Boy won that at the carnival for Chloe. Such a sweet boy! She loves sleeping with the snake.

Even The Boy is obsessed with pipe cleaners. Check out these cute pipe cleaner bracelets he made me this weekend. There are even "SPECIAL EDITION" striped bracelets in the bunch! He's craftier than me!

Told you she sleeps with the snake. LOL

Look out! ASTRO BOY!

(Actual picture from the big screen in the movies)

Sorry everyone, I'm skipping the Tuesday Football tracker this week. I've had so much going on this weekend that I didn't even watch any football. If so much going on means, sleeping away the entire 2nd half of my Saturday, than yeah It's been crazy busy for me. I needed to catch up on my sleep so that when I started my new job I'd be on POINT!

So instead of spending my Sunday crafting as per usual and watching football, I decided to take The Boy and my Nephew PAPA to the movies. I did happen to bust out SIX halloween trick or treat bags in under ONE hour before we left though. YAY ME! I had planned on us seeing It's Raining Meatballs, however we had a slight change of plans and ended up seeing Astro Boy instead.

Movie theaters are crazy! I mean seriously, I'm not sure I'll be seeing another movie for a long time. $46 is what I spent for 2 kids and myself to attend the movie. The tickets, matinee, were $21 dollars and the food was $25. Seriously $25 for 2 hot dogs, a bag of popcorn and 3 sodas. $6 for a small bag of popcorn. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? It's insane how expensive the snack bar at the movie theater is.

All in all, it was totally worth it, especially since my sister gave me $20. The movie started out kinda rough. Not the actual movie, but our adventure in getting to the movies. We arrived right on time so it was super dark in the theater when we walked in and the previews were all ready playing. I was NOT AT ALL surprised we were the only ones in the theater. After the $46 price tag, I totally understood why.

So anyway Poor Papa spilled his orange soda all over his shoes as we were walking up the stairs to our seat. The Boy, actually had a sweet boy moment, and gave his drink to Papa. Thanks for sharing. The boy wanted to sit at the very top of the theater, so we did. It was so cute because Papa said, "Wow I've never sat up here before."

All in all it was an alright movie. I can't deny a tear might have been shed towards the end. I had to say it was alright because it was VERY VIOLENT. For a moment I thought I was watching a war film with all the explosions, gun fire and robots being destroyed. I wouldn't really consider this an appropriate movie for small children because of the violence.

So here are some pictures of our movie adventure. No persons were bothered by the flash of the camera. Like I said we were the only ones in the theater.

BTW I'm HATING my BLACKBERRY. It sucks for taking pictures and than even more so pulling them off onto my computer. I CAN'T WAIT TILL MY "MY TOUCH" ARRIVES THIS WEEK!

Seriously Auntie, I'm trying to watch the movie! It's just a hot dog!
I love me some popcorn!

Astro Boy, kicking some Robot BUTT!!

You've got to end the MOVIE adventure with a treat from the quarter machine. The Boy got a GIANT jawbreaker for $1. Yeah hello remember when these use to be a QUARTER. Papa got himself some $.50 M&M'S and I got some Lotsa Sours.

What was the last movie you saw?

Bitter Sweet

Today is my last day at my current company. I've been their Senior Accountant and Office Manger for over 2 years now and with the changes that are going on within the company, I felt it was in my best interest to move on.

Now that I'm an adult and with having a mortgage and all, I really need to work in a more stable industry.

Working for Venture Backed Technology start-up companies are just too risky.

Monday, I start a new Adventure. I'm moving on up in the world. I'm going to become the Accounting Manager of a Stable Company and hope to one day soon, become their Controller. It's been a while since I've had such a financially low risk job. I'm hoping it will be refreshing.

Although, I'm excited to start my new adventure, I really will miss my old job.

With this new adventure, I won't be able to be as active as I currently am with my blog. Once I settle in and gain my footing I imagine I'll be back here as active as ever!

So please be patient with me as it might take a day or two to get through all my emails and visit every one's blogs. I imagine, I'll be commenting at night instead of in the morning and throughout the day.

Wish me luck that I end up liking this job. I don't want to regret leaving my old one!

On a lighter more fun note. IT'S FRIDAY!! WHOOTY WHOOTY. I'll leave you with this great song. It's one om fav songs.

I mean who doesn't like Chicken Fried, Cold beer on a Friday night, a pair of jeans that fit just right and the radio up!

So have a drink with me and raise your glasses for a toast!

THEY'RE BACK

OMG! I was totally thinking about these the other day and how I wished they still made them. These were the best, back in the day when I was a kid.

So you can imagine how excited I was when I saw them in Target! YES, so excited that I had to buy ALL 3! Luckily they were only $1.99 per box!

Do you remember these? YUM!!

What are you missing from your childhood, that you wish they would bring back?

Spooktacular Pumpkins and Cakes!

This year I decided that I wanted to felt our pumpkins as opposed to carving them. I'm so over the little safety knives that always break and the mess that is carving pumpkins. Then I remembered that if we don't carve our pumpkins then we won't have any pumpkin seeds.

Hey LISA, Why can't you do both?

What a great idea! You are so SMART! So this weekend The Boy and I felted our pumpkins. The BF is going to spray paint his pumpkin once he draws up a "killer" stencil. We will see, if that happens. I think the pumpkins turned out pretty well. It was more time consuming then I was expecting it to be, however I think it was worth it.

Since Halloween is on a Saturday this year, we will carve and bake our pumpkin seeds on Halloween!

Materials needed to FELT your PUMPKINS.

Pumpkins
$.37 felt squares (purchased at Walmart) I forgot to buy Yellow for the windows. Oh well.
Scissors
Hot Glue Gun
Pencil and Paper

Draw out a stencil of what you would like your pumpkin design to become. Then place the stencil on the felt and cut. Hot glue the felt together if needed and then just hot glue the entire project to the pumpkin. Since we are carving our pumpkins on Halloween, I only glued the corners of the project to the pumpkin. This will make it easier to remove and hopefully we will be able to re-use the felt designs again next year.

The Boy's GREEN BLOB pumpkin. I think it turned out perfect! Reminds me of something out of Monsters, Inc.

My Spooky Ghost house. I really wish I had yellow felt to do the windows instead of white. I really wanted to have ghosts coming out of the windows. OH well, maybe next year!

Now for our SPOOKTACULAR CUPCAKES!

I cheated in making these cupcakes. Hey it's been a long weekend and I can cheat whenever I want to cheat. Don't judge me. I cheated by using STORE BOUGHT ICING, instead of making my own. I'm disappointed in myself but I just didn't want to deal with the mess and time of making my own frosting.

I printed out these wonderful Halloween Cupcake Toppers. I found them on Two Hearts Together's blog. I then used my neighbors circle punch to punch them out. I taped the cutouts to toothpicks so I could stick them in the cupcakes.

The Boy helped me to decorate the cupcakes. I frosted while he put on all the sprinkles.

I packed them up in two separate tins. I'm taking some to work for my co-workers and so is the BF!
